Jose Mourinho has come out today and said that tonight’s second leg Europa League semi final is the biggest game in the Red Devil’s history. It is some claim when you consider Man United’s previous successes. But what it does highlight is how pivotal tonight’s game is for United and for their season. Failure tonight and they look set for another season of Thursday night action.
Last week’s first leg hero was Marcus Rashford (£5.06) whose fine free kick bamboozled the Vigo keeper to give United a crucial away goal and lead into tonight’s game. That free kick marked the crowning of a new buzz king after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s (£1.41) injury in the last round with a hat trick of buzz wins on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The young striker looks set to lead the line again tonight having been rested at the Emirates and the potential for buzz is huge.
Henrik Mkhitaryan (£2.77) has been the man where the Europa League has been concerned. Thursday evenings have quite simply been Mkhi’s time to shine. He has five goals in the competition to date with key strikes against Zorya Luhansk, Rostov, St Etienne and Anderlecht. For Indexers, the Armenian is actually trading 40p lower than he was just a month ago. There could be significant growth opportunities for traders and buzz if he can help United reach the final.
United’s opponents this evening, Celta Vigo are not represented on the Index but do have two players who used to play for their rivals. Ex Liverpool striker Iago Aspas was a flop on a Merseyside and is best known for a shocking corner in the last moments of the season defining defeat against Chelsea. Since returning to Spain he has returned to form and has represented the national side. Another forward at Vigo is ex Man City forward John Guidetti. The Swedes career never really began at City but he has the opportunity to show the Premier League what they lost this evening. Could these players from ex rivals de-rail United’s season?
It’s sure to be an interesting one.
