The North London derby is always a hotly contested tie, so let’s hope that today’s matchup between Arsenal and Tottenham brings with it lots of action.
Surely we’ll see more excitement than we did yesterday?! With just four goals over 5 different fixtures in the Prem, I think it’s fair to say that week 35 in the Premier League hasn’t really delivered so far. Thank goodness for Jamie Vardy (£1.02); at least his goal ensured one less bore draw. The English striker has been on quite the run of form and his seventh goal in eleven games brought Leicester another important three points. Considering Leicester looked well and truly doomed only a couple of months ago, the fact that they’re now sitting in eleventh place is quite respectable really!
Back to derby day and Spurs will sense they can really make a statement today. A victory over Arsenal today would not only keep Tottenham in the title race with Chelsea, but it would also push Arsenal further out of reach from the hallowed fourth place position. As such, a Spurs win would truly highlight a shift in power across North London. Spurs will be depending on their formidable attacking stars if they want the win today and traders looking to get involved in the action should really look no further than Harry Kane (£5.46). Even though he is currently at a high value, Kane could be a worthwhile punt as he has a relentless goal scoring record in London derbies. In his career, Kane has played 31 London derbies and in this time he has managed to rack up a very impressive 23 goals! Out of all the London clubs he’s played, Kane has scored more goals against Arsenal than any other club (5 altogether). As such, it’s probably safe to say that Gooners will not be looking forward to the prospect of facing Kane again. Will you be backing him during the derby?
If Arsenal are to get anything out of the tie, they are going to need to carry on where they left off against City. Although Arsenal haven’t exactly been spell-binding to watch, since their shuffle to 3 at the back, they have appeared more solid. Oh how Arsenal could do with an exciting talent such as Kylian Mbappe (£2.76) for this tie! It seems that former Arsenal legend Robert Pires has decided to weigh in on the buzz around Mbappe and he’s even suggested he could join Arsenal. Pire’s has made many traders happy, as Mbappe has since seen further growth and he is now eying up the £3.00 mark! Pires’s comments will definitely have gone down better with Arsenal fans than Arsene Wenger’s most recent response relating to the teenage wonder. Le Proffeseur has suggested Arsenal are not in a financial position to match other clubs around the world competing for Mbappe…nice move Wenger!
