It was a clean sweep on the performance buzz for Lyon on Friday night, as they swept aside Angers with a dominant 6-0 victory.
The star of the show was Houssam Aouar (£2.23) who recorded a massive score of 275 points on the day! Aouar played an integral role during the match having scored the opening goal, as well as chipping in with two assists. Auoar’s impressive score prompted a flurry of investment and it was no surprise to see the young Frenchman topped the list of the highest increase in value over 24 hours; raising in price by 32p alone on the back of yesterdays match. At just 21 years of age, Auoar is already a well-established member of this exciting Lyon side. Having managed 13 goals and 12 assists in the league over the past two seasons, Auoar looks like he’s going to have a similarly successful season this year.
Lyon fans may well have been forgiven for cursing their luck following the sale of such stars as Tanguy Ndombele (£1.80) and talisman Nabil Fekir (£1.92) this summer. Fekir had been one of the major attacking outlets for Lyon, but his summer move to Betis, may, in fact, have allowed several other stars to become the new focal point in attack. One such player who is really making a name for himself at Lyon is Moussa Dembele (£1.79). Having joined Lyon from Celtic last season, Dembele has made the step up from the Scottish league with ease. Having tallied 15 goals in his debut season for Lyon, he added brace against Angers to take his tally to 3 for the season.
One player who has always impressed from an attacking perspective is Memphis Depay (£2.37). The Dutchman was in formidable form against Angers on Friday, recording a brace as well as supplying an assist on top. Depay broke the 200 point barrier too, recording an impressive score of 228. With the new alterations to the performance buzz matrix, Depay could well be one player who benefits from these changes. His high dribbling style will no doubt lead to additional gains and there is no doubting his productivity in terms of goals and assists. In fact, since joining Lyon from Man United, Depay has played 91 league games scoring 37 goals and assisting 31 times. As such, Depay’s ability supplying and scoring, coupled with his attacking style of play (not to mention the fact he takes set-pieces!) may well lead to the Dutchman becoming one of the most valuable assets on the Index before too long!
It’s not just up front were Lyon are really impressing, they have also looked very solid at the back. Their defensive pairing of Jason Denayor (87p) and Joachim Anderson (83p) both look at ease at the back, having racked up 122 and 124 touches respectively during their most recent match against Angers. This combination of comfort on the ball and Lyon’s clean sheet against Angers meant that Denayor secured the highest defensive score on Friday night with an impressive tally of 189 points and the Belgian subsequently saw a 17p increase in value.
It may well be early days, but Lyon have already set an impressive marker and with Paris Saint Germain having dominated the league for so long, many neutrals and traders alike will be hoping that Lyon can continue this impressive early-season form.
